Poona Couplings started as a Joint Venture between Mr. Ashok Mulye (Former Executive Vice President of Cummins India Ltd.) and Holset Engineering Co. Ltd. of UK (A wholly owned subsidiary of Cummins Engine Co. of U.S.A.) The Company was incorporated in December 1984 & Commercial production started in September 1986. The Technical & Commercial Collaboration (Holset had 20% equity in P.C.) was principally for three series of Couplings.
